You watch poker on television and it looks great. Everyone seems to be having fun, and in some cases, winning fortunes. They are all doing this playing a variation of poker known as Texas Hold’em. If you don’t live near a casino, it can be tough to get a live Texas Hold’em game going. Fortunately for you, in this day and age, you can circumvent this problem using the Internet. Dozens of great websites exist out there for you to play Texas Hold’em anytime, day or night, with players all over the world, for real money. Here’s how to play Internet Texas Hold’em.
The rules of Texas Hold’em are simple. Just make your best five card poker hand using the two cards that are dealt to you combined with five community cards ‘the board’; which are laid out in the middle of the table. The game starts with two forced bets, called the small blind and the big blind. Each player is dealt two cards face down.
Every player after the big blind, moving clockwise around the table, must call the big blind’s bet, raise, or fold. Everyone who remains in the hand gets to see the first three community cards, also called the flop. Players bet, and whoever stays in the hand gets to see the fourth card, called the turn, or fourth street. Another bet, then the final community card, the river, or fifth street, is dealt. A final round of betting, and whoever remains in the hand shows what they have. Whoever can make the best five card poker hand wins the pot
